DO YOU WANT TO SUPPORT CETLALIC WHILE YOU IMPROVE YOUR SPANISH?

CETLALIC was founded in 1987 as an alternative school. Working together with grassroots organizations and others who are actively involved in their society, we strive to integrate intensive study of Spanish language with experiential cultural learning and analysis of current social and political issues. Our goal is to promote dialogue between Mexico and the people of other cultures, in order to reach that goal, we make the experience of every participant our concern. We welcome all people regardless of nationality, ethnic origin, race, gender, sexual preference, age, etc.

SKILLS NEEDED
We are seeking volunteers to assist with promotion, bulk mailing, basic translation, and general correspondence. Special abilities such as knowledge of computers, the internet, and the creation and maintenance of a web-site are a plus. Knowledge of Spanish language at an intermediate level is required as you will have to answer the phone.

WHAT YOU GIVE

• Pay the registration fee (US $100)
• Pay your transportation to Cuernavaca
• Pay for your room and board: US$ 600 per month in a private room (US$ 20 per day), or we can help you find an apartment (Your own for approximately $400 US or shared for approximately $ 300 US)
• Volunteer three hours per day in CETLALIC from 12:00 to 3:00 PM*

WHAT YOU GET

• Three hours Spanish language instruction per day from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM*
• Assistance in securing a Tourist Visa if necessary
• Assistance in securing room & board with a Mexican family or a furnished apartment

This program can be 5 weeks minimum or 12 weeks maximum, and we only have it in our Cuernavaca Campus. We can be a little flexible with the dates.

NOTE:

1. The first 3 days are for training only, from 9am to 12pm. Until the 4th day you will start your classes. Usually training is Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and you start classes and working on the next Monday.

2.Because you will be working from 12-3, you will not be involved in the afternoon´s cultural activities, unless you are needed for translation. However, if there is an activity that you are particularly interested in, you can participate and make up your hours when it is convenient for all parties. We also have evening activities which you are welcome to attend.

3. As Cetlalic often has very few students in the low season (February-April and September-December), there may be times when there are no other students at your Spanish level. In this case we will not be able to offer you classes, because as a work-study student you are not entitled to individual instruction. However, in this case you are welcome to work in the morning and participate in the cultural activities in the afternoon, we can come up with another work-study exchange or you can take the week off.
